Gucci Resort 2018

Pulling inspiration from Ancient Classical periods in history, Alessandro Michele revealed another collection under Gucci where his extravagance can be appreciated. Weaving in classical elements with pieces of history from the 60s, 70s and the Renaissance happens to be the key successor of this collection. We saw an array of colors that were derived from royal palettes, consisting of rich purples, golden hues, canary yellows, royal reds and nautical blues. After reviewing the collection, I saw a fusion of cultures and time periods in every look- which added fascination and stimulation for any fashion lover like myself. The accessories made each look- adding excessiveness to the embroidered, bedazzled and woven pieces throughout. Michele added heavy elegance through the outerwear pieces within the collection- featuring fur chubbies, elongated bomber jackets, silk blazers and woven cardigans. We saw the consistent fusion that Gucci continuously brings- nerdy meets elegance, trends meet classics, and children meet adulthood. Pulling inspiration from various cultures, ethnic backgrounds, previous designers, and meaningful time periods- Gucci outdoes itself all over again. Signing off.

Valentino Resort 2018

With a continuous exploration of various cultures and ethnic backgrounds, Valentino has managed to dive into one that is beloved by the majority of Americans; Hip Hop. After falling in love with Netflix Series, The Get Down, Valentino’s creative director, Piccioli took a jab at bringing pieces from the series to life. Transitioning from high end to everyday, Piccioli was able to create pieces with inspiration pulled from the streets of New York City. Putting a luxurious twist on the tracksuit, Piccioli utilized hammered silks in hues of emerald green, flamingo pink and ruby red. He added to the mix by creating lengthy track dresses that featured zippers and piping, adding to the sporty theme. There were small focuses on army fatigue and bleached and washed denim. There were deep remnants of embroidery and small touches of patchwork. All elements met in harmony on the runway, taking the audience on a journey that connected the past with the future in a thrilling way. There is beauty in the exploration of culture, through the eyes of fashion and design… We just have to dig deeper. Signing off.

Balmain Fall 2016

image

image

image

I see why they call it the Balmain Army.
That is a well earned title.

Considering the fact that we saw famous super models such as Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls, Kendall Jenner, Lindsey Wixson and more- I’d say this was an exclusive show with hand-picked models.

Invite only.

The models selected and the star-filled audience was only a slice of what the collection and presentation had to offer.

image

image

Inspired by muse, Kim Kardashian, Oliver Rousteing used a strong play on her physical curves to create this phenomenal collection.

Although, Rousteing expressed that the collection was inspired by all curvy women, it was apparent that there was an emphasis on Kardashian due to the cuts of the pieces and the color palette.

image

image

image

image

Drenched in mostly neutral tones, models gawked down the runway in flat beige, powder pink, cool blue and black. These are definitely Kim’s go-to colors daily.

With the use of padded mini skirts, metallic waistbands, and the art of corsetry, Rousteing was able to accentuate the hips and lifted bottom that women would kill for.

Besides the direct emphasis on the curves of the every day woman, the collection had many other highlights and inspiration…

One being the decor of the body.

Rousteing created pieces that were strongly embedded in detail from head to toe.

Didn’t you notice?

image

image

image

From premium fur capped sleeves to silk and mesh fitted blouses.
Full lace trousers trimmed with ruffled silk to floor length skirts embroidered with fine beads and exaggerated tassles.
Corset inspired bodices and skirts that were laced with silk to metallic and oversized choker necklaces.
Thigh high, full suede boots to full length matching overcoats.

This collection was fully stacked.

image

The show featured models of many different races, ethnicities and ages.

This is something that Rousteing is definitely known and appreciated for.

Although, we saw some of the most famous super models, we also saw some new faces that kept up effortlessly.

image

image

image

image

image

I commend this collection.

Not because of the fame filled model line-up, or based on the inspiration coming from Kim K.

I commend it due to the creativity and consistency that is constantly seen from this fashion house.

Rousteing carries the name very well, you can spot a piece and know it’s Balmain due to the attention to detail.

Each model looks as if she feels empowered, independent and sexy- which is important.

He just gets it.

Balmain Fall 2016

Maison Margiela Fall 2015 Couture

Every morning, I wake up around 4:00 and try to fall back asleep again.
Not sure if it’s just a timer in my mind that continues to wake me at this odd time or what.
Well, this morning was different.
I found myself scrolling through WWD and found some gems.

Maison Margiela has just released the new collection featuring Fall Couture 2015 and I’m thrilled!
Some are calling it recycled, some are calling it unoriginal-
Hell, I’m calling it art.

The models came gawking down the runway to Marvin Gaye’s, ‘I Heard it Through the Grapevine’ in nothing but avant garde makeup, alternative hair styles and couture.
Every pieces that was sent down the runway was a tasteful piece of art, completely in its own lane.
I LIVE!

image

Not your every day black dress, its an evolution of the black dress.
The design, fabric placement and overall styling is stimulating and bone chilling.
Check her footwork, by the way.
The shoes in this collection are designed at another level.

image

You guys know that I’m a sucker for a good piece of outerwear, but the details on this baby gave me pure joy.
The fat knitting, the black detailing and the cinched waist gave me three reasons why I’d rock the hell out of this.

image

Women wearing menswear has definitely been ‘in’ this year, as we all know…
But, let’s take it to the next level.
The patchwork on the front of this blazer takes the cake!
Yeah, we’ve all seen blazers, but not like this.
I think the additions to the blazer, including the blow outs, patchwork, and added fringe all make this a piece that stands out.
How about you?

image

But, this skirt BELONGS TO ME!
Iridescent pieces always scream my name!
Maybe its the way it catches the light, or the thought of the million pieces that it can be paired with- Whatever.
Just get this skirt to me!
The texture is wild and exciting and the colors are vibrant.
I need!

image

At this point, I couldn’t contain myself.
Seriously, look at the artistic draping and movement that this piece has.
The model is literally in a fashionable cocoon!
The color adds more than enough edge and sophistication to the piece.
Only a few could truly wear this piece and get away with it, but its one of my favorites.

image

Clearly, my name is written all over this coat.
I can live my life wearing minimal pieces, I feel like they often make a bigger statement than flamboyant pieces.
Something about the structure and length that just has me yelling, “GIMME.”
I’d wear this any day.

image

I think the billowing pieces of fabric really won me on this piece.
I also enjoyed the sophisticated styling used to accentuate this piece, especially the long gloves.
The mute color with the quiet pattern create a softness around the piece that I’m really enjoying.
There is something about that dress!

image

I’d have fun styling this dress.
I love the actual design of the gown and the particular fabric chosen.
I must say that with the wrong styling techniques, this treasure can quickly be turned into trash.
I’d pair it with others pieces and accessories that elude to its sexiness while still living up to its couture placement.
How do you guys feel about this one?!

image

Don’t speak.
Just observe.
This is my favorite piece from the collection and a well deserved finale. This showcases was Margiela stands as an iconic, avant garde fashion house.

Welcome back, Galliano.

Jason Wu.

image

This runway show was everything.
I can’t say that enough.
I have a huge appreciation for Wu’s excellent mixture of women’s suiting, frame accenting dresses, compelling outerwear pieces, and more.
Almost every look hit home for me.
Sexy. Sensual. Sophisticated.

image

image

image

Wu name dropped Catherine Deneuve as his muse for this collection,
Which is beautifully obvious.
I mean, come on.
Wu has completely channelled her effortless glamour throughout his collection.
Women who know real style are gawking over the collection like I am.

image

image

image

If I had the chance to own any pieces from the collection,
I’d need a few of these furs.
Look at them!
They’re rich, detailed, and to die for.
Regardless of what the furs were used for- as a stole over a dress, or underneath a fine coat…
Fur stole the show.

image

image

I love the cinched waists that filled the runway.
I think this adds to the femininity and sexiness.
That man also knows how to produce a clean-cut trouser.
They fit the models effortlessly,
Not too loose or too tight.

image

image

It’s all in the details.
The details are killing me.
They add to the glam factor associated with this collection.
From cinched waists to the layering to the precision and details…
We see a high level of expertise in this collection.

image

You know I’m loving this surprise crocodile that popped up.
High quality and luxurious.
The color is amazing and the styling was impeccable.

image

image

image

image

image

The low necklines are extremely well done, exuding the perfect amount of cleavage.

image

image

image

image

image

This sheer dress had to be one of my favorite pieces on the runway.
Black always wins for me.
The long sleeves, high neck and mid length made this dress dramatic.

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

But, look at this coat.
Perfection.

image

Some have said that Wu played it safe…
I’d say he’s outdone himself.
I’d feel glamorous wearing any piece from this collection.
I’m in love with it.

Grammy Family.

It’s the morning after the 57th Annual Grammy Award Show, and the press continues to go insane. I’m up early, watching and reading the commentary and feedback from the show, performances, and the fashion.

Regardless of your things or people that we loved or could’ve used less of, the night was certainly one to remember. Since I’m so interested in fashion, my eyes were glued to the Red Carpet and performance looks throughout the evening. Although there were very few looks that really enticed me, I will say that the few that did were to die for! There were a select number of designers and stylists who understand that status of the Grammy Awards and took their clients to the next level. Take a peek at some of my favorite looks from last night!

Kimye.

image

This couple stopped the show for me. There individual styles have meshed perfectly over the past year, and this is definitely a highlighting moment. Kim Kardashian sparkled in a┬áJean Paul Gaultier gown, which complimented Kanye’s Balmain custom fit. Kim was lightly accessorized, allowing the gown to steal the spotlight. The gown highlighted her sexy features, but still managed to keep it classy. I’m digging her new haircut, keeping the look modern with a slight edge. Her styling team did an amazing job!

image

image

image

image

image

Ciara.

image

Ciara constantly does it for me, she can do no wrong. Her natural beauty kills me, but her style team does quite a number as well. She graced the Red Carpet in Alexandre Vauthier Couture, and made jaws drop. THIS is a dress that is worthy of the Grammy’s! It’s original, timeless, and one of her best looks yet. Her look was definitely complete with her natural make-up, and her hair, which was slicked back. All I can say about this is that less IS more, Ciara is a constant advocate of this.

image

Rita Ora.

image

I’m a sucker for this British Superstar! Rita’s fashion statements are always favorites of mine because there is never a dull moment. She outshined many on the Red Carpet in her Prada gown. Her styling team paired the gown nicely with her spunky new pixy cut. I live for mock neck dresses, and the long sleeves add much-needed drama! She’s not afraid to try new looks, and I’d say that this one was a hit!

image

image

image

Gwen Stefani.

image

Gwen’s style has been mocked, but never duplicated. She has paved the way for many celebrities, and she’s one that constantly uses fashion as a form of self expression. I fell in love with her look by Atelier Versace because it’s effortless! The jumpsuit was altered after leaving the runway to fit Gwen perfectly. It’s neatly beaded at the top which provided great detail. I’m loving the bare shoulders, something I didn’t see much of on the Red Carpet. It brings femininity to her look. Her make-up was natural and muted, and her hair was pulled into a loose coif. Gwen’s style matures and grows better with time, she is constantly evolving.

image

image

Jessie J.

image

Jessie’s look was my absolute favorite of the evening. Considering the fact that Jessie is normally fairly casual and trendy, this look completely surprised and excited me. She was styled in a Ralph and Russo gown last night, which was breathtaking. The black gown was embellished with beautiful beading, and also had a sheer overlay. Remaining true to her vampy style, her team paired the gown with gun metal hoop earrings and a dark purple lip. Her hair was parted neatly and glossed behind her ear. Jessie J. looked absolutely stunning and her look was a tasteful but sexy choice. What do you guys think?!

Antonio Berardi Pre-Fall 2015 Collection

Antonio Berardi released his Pre-Fall 2015 Collection recently, and I’m extremely impressed. I find it fascinating how far in advance the fashion world is. I mean, we’re just wrapping up December 2014, and there are fall collections being released for 2015. Amazing! While browsing through Style.com, I came across this collection and had to take a closer look.

image

I can appreciate the collection based on the fact that it is inspired by menswear and suiting. All of the looks were tailored and clean cut, but were all exceptionally fashionable to say the least. If you know me, you also know that a fashion ‘turn-on’ for me includes clean cut looks. I always gravitate towards clean, structured pieces.

image

Each look was designed with an evident appreciation for structure, angles, and fine lines. The shape of each piece creates an illusion that also makes each piece unique.

image

The collection is timeless and full of class. There is no sense that the designer wanted to follow a trend of any sort. He decided to take his own route and developed a sophisticated collection for women who are on the go.

image

I love the fact that the pieces were made to withstand time. They exude feelings of class and sophistication.

image

The fabric used to create the collection views to be extremely durable, thick and rich. This adds to the timelessness that the collection brings. The prints chosen flow well with the solid pieces. I’m usually afraid of print, but I think that these prints chosen are delicious!

image

Of course my favorite pieces were the tuxedo dresses and all of the outerwear. From full coats to blazers, everything was exquisite.

image

I also fell in love with the scenery that was chosen for the shooting of the collection. I think it reflects a woman who is on the go. The model was gorgeous, and her posing was excellent. She was full of movement, something you don’t see too often these days.

image

This is one of my favorite collections that I’ve viewed this week due to the fact that it holds versatility with every piece. I’d rock just about everything from the collection, these pieces belong in my closet.

image

What do you guys think about Antonio Berardi’s new collection? I’m dreaming of the day that I’ll own something from this fabulous collection!
